In the sensitive gas sector, quality and safety are of central importance – especially when it comes to ramping up the hydrogen economy. Recognised, independent performance verification is an essential tool for demonstrating to customers, public authorities and partners that the highest safety and quality standards are being met.
HyCentA has now been designated as an official testing body for certification under the ÖVGW Hydrogen Quality Mark. This quality mark confirms compliance with particularly high technical and safety-related requirements:
The ÖVGW Hydrogen Quality Mark certifies the fulfilment of the highest requirements, which go far beyond the European minimum requirements of the CE marking.
Established quality label now also for hydrogen
The ÖVGW quality marks have been established and recognised for many years in the gas and water sectors. They are regarded as a reliable signal of tested quality in infrastructure and products.
This makes it all the more important that hydrogen is now also being elevated to this status: hydrogen is thus clearly embedded in the existing quality and safety architecture of the Austrian energy infrastructure.
Long-standing collaboration as a foundation
The deepening of the partnership between HyCentA and ÖVGW is based on many years of cooperation. This includes numerous joint projects as well as participation in committees and working groups.
Thanks to this close collaboration, research findings and practical operating experience flow directly into rules, guidelines and certification programmes. This creates robust, practical standards on which manufacturers and operators can rely.
Joint partners in the hydrogen transition
HyCentA and ÖVGW see themselves as joint partners in the hydrogen transition. Their focus is on ensuring a resilient and sustainable energy supply using the energy carrier “gas” – increasingly shaped by hydrogen and renewable gases.
As a state-accredited certification body, ÖVGW tests and certifies products and companies on the basis of:
- nationally and internationally recognised guidelines and standards
- established certification programmes
- as well as the ÖVGW rulebook
HyCentA now supports this task as a testing body with scientific and technical expertise in the field of hydrogen.
